Rise of the Tomb Raider PS4 Release Date: Coming To PS4 After Xbox One, 360 Launch During 2015 Holidays

Rise of the Tomb Raider is the sequel to the Tomb Raider game that was released in 2013. The release of Rise of the Tomb Raider was confirmed in a press conference in June, when Microsoft announced that the game would release at the end of 2015 during the holidays, exclusively on the Xbox One and Xbox 360.
GameSpot reports that many fans were angry when they learned that Rise of the Tomb Raider would be coming out only the Xbox, as they felt the game franchise would no longer be available for them.
However, since the press conference in June, GameSpot has reported that the deal to keep Rise of the Tomb Raider exclusive to the Xbox may not be permanent. GameSpot quotes from an interview that Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft's Xbox division, gave to Eurogamer in which he stated the game would eventually come to the PS4 as "the deal has a specific duration, we don't own the franchise."
Geek reports that the deal to keep Rise of the Tomb Raider exclusive to the Xbox is timed and it will expire at the end of the 2015 holiday season, after which the game will be available on the PS3 and PS4.
Geek is also reporting that several ads mocking the exclusivity of the game have come up on Game.
Also it has been highlighted that more PlayStation 4 consoles are being sold than Xbox One units. Sony has sold 10 million PS4s compared to only 5.3 million consoles of the Xbox One. This is one reason that Microsoft is looking to boost the sales of Xbox One during Christmas season in 2015 with the exclusive deal, hoping they can tempt those who want to play the game and make them also buy the Xbox One. However, practically and commercially it might not make sense to block the game from the PS4 for too long, as recent rumors have indicated.
