"Rick and Morty" creator Dan Harmon recently confirmed that the production stage of "Rick and Morty" season 3 is currently ongoing.

It is not known how many episodes were already done crafting by Harmon's creative team, but at this point, there is a greater likelihood that the third season may be able to be released as early as this year. Besides, Harmon and his co-creator Justin Roiland already gave a word to the show's fans that season 3 will air this year.

Furthermore, the recent Twitter updates posted by the members of "Rick and Morty" creative team only prove the rumors that the show is ready for a 2016 release. The way things are going, "Rick and Morty" team is not having any problems with the production so far. As noted by The Bitbag, "Rick and Morty" writers Mike McMahan and Jessica Gao shared photo updates on their Twitter page and even teased the front pages of the finished script for certain episodes.

Meanwhile, the Morning Ledger reported that the villainous alien overlord in the previous seasons will not be voiced by the same actor. Instead of Justin Roiland who lent his voice to the character in Season 2, a lucky fan will fill in his shoes in the upcoming season. The name of the fan is Jonas B hailing from Canada, and he will start working on the "Rick and Morty" recording studio until the alien overlord character eventually gets killed off towards the end of Season 3.
