'Rick and Morty' season 3 spoilers news 2016: Beth and Jerry calling it quits? Show creator promises development in marriage storyline

Beth and Jerry do not have the most successful of marriage. This is true in the first and second season of "Rick and Morty," but it appears that season 3 will present some kind of progress.
The Smith couple's marriage woes will be a point of discussion in "Rick and Morty" season 3. Show co-creator Dan Harmon says that with the premise starting to wear out, they will spice things up next season.
In the commentary track on the season 2 DVD of "Rick and Morty," Harmon promised that story involving Jerry and Beth's rocky relationship will progress especially on the latter's side.
"I thought that Jerry and Beth getting a divorce would be like Kenny being killed in South Park, like, when we first conceived the show... that it would never run out of shelf life that that was the kind of joke of like, oh all our parents were about to get a divorce," Harmon said via Geek.
"But, I think millennial viewers are like, 'I don't understand, why don't they just recycle more?' So, season three, we kind of move the Beth story forward," he teased.
With regards to Rick, who fans will find behind bars as they check back in on "Rick and Morty" season 3, he is expected to still make it out despite the circumstances.
According to speculations, Morty will save the day. However, it won't be an easy task with new and dangerous villains plotting his failure and demise.
One of the baddies Morty will have to deal with is an evil version of himself. Other challenges that will come his way include how the prison is so well-guarded that entering itself will be a problem.
"Rick and Morty" season 3 is slated for a premiere later this year. However, the lack of updates has fans worrying if it will make it in time especially since this new season will have more episodes.
