'Rick and Morty' season 3 news: co-creator Dan Harmon fires back at social media hecklers ala Rick Sanchez

December is more than halfway through, and the year is dwindling down to its last few days, yet there are still no signs that "Rick and Morty" season 3 is going to be released. This causes fans to get their keyboard warrior suits on and start sending the show's showrunners some queries and even hate messages in social media demanding to know what is happening in the series' production.

The situation is by no means unusual especially in this day and age in which everyone can basically get in front of their wifi-connected devices and reach out to anybody. But co-creator Dan Harmon has had enough of it calling people out on his official Twitter page in an epic and quite a long rant. As it turns out, the particular fan message that irked him out came from the user @DannyOcean11111 when the latter tagged the writer about having his Twitter taken away from him until he polished up "Rick and Morty" season 3. The 43-year-old then replied saying "Can one of you gross children lay out in a flowchart how it is that you think TV, animation, the internet, society and/or anything works."

A couple of days after, Harmon was again back on Twitter with a dual-post that sounds still connected with the earlier social media squabble albeit no proof on that given that he did not tag anyone on the following Tweets. He wrote, "Here's a list of ideal times to tell me what to do: 1. Never, you can google that. 2. in 1992 when I was your useless ass age" and then "3. When you're paying me or doing anything I respect 4. When I'm not on Twitter 5. Before you revealed that if you're in charge WE'RE FUCKED."

Harmon's partner, Justin Roiland joined in the chaos in a very subtle way also taking into his Twitter but posting a subtle message in between the days that his collaborator was not on it. Interestingly, Roiland played coy on the kerfuffle writing: "Nobody ever asks me when season three is coming. I've never been asked even once. I guess everybody is just patiently waiting? :/"

What is funny is how Harmon's and Roiland's reactions to the matter are not only significantly different but are also somehow a parallel to "Rick and Morty" characters. Harmon took on the more aggressive route reminiscent of Rick while Roiland's treatment was very Morty-esque.

Unfortunately, nothing really significant came out of this incident as there is still no official release date of "Rick and Morty" season 3. The creators did not give any kind of hint that the Adult Swim show is coming anytime soon except they have previously shared that they have an indefinite target date of 2016. Needless to say, fans are still waiting for new episodes and keeping their hopes up that a surprise Christmas release will ensue.
