Ricardo Medina Arrested For Murder: Ex-Power Ranger Actor Allegedly Stabs His Roommate
An actor who appeared in the U.S. TV series "Power Rangers" was arrested by the police after he stabbed to death his roommate in Palmdale, California, on Saturday.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department identified the suspect as 36-year-old Ricardo Medina Jr., who stabbed victim Joshua Sutter, 36, on San Francisquito Canyon Road in Palmdale.
According to the police, the stabbing incident happened shortly before 4 p.m. last Jan. 31.
Based on the investigation, Medina and Sutter had an argument, which turned physical. Medina retreated to his bedroom with his girlfriend, but Sutter followed them and forced the door open.
Medina allegedly stabbed Sutter in the abdomen using a sword that he kept next to the bedroom door.
Medina called 911 after the incident and stayed in the house until authorities came. He was interviewed by the Homicide Bureau detectives on the circumstances behind the incident.
Sutter was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Medina was brought to the Palmdale Sheriff's Station where he was booked for murder and locked behind bars. His bail was set at $1 million.
"Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing death of a man," the LA County Sheriff's Department said in a statement.
Neighbor Justin Adamson said Medina has lived in the house for two months. "We brought him some bread and just tried to interact a little bit with him, but he was more of the, you know, the type of guy that didn't really want to communicate," he said, according to KABC-TV.
Fellow Power Ranger Jason Faunt, who is a close friend of Medina, said, I was just with him a couple of months ago and he seemed great. He seemed like himself."
Sutter's sister was quoted as saying that her brother told her Medina was a "little crazy."
Medina will appear in court on Tuesday.
Medina starred in the 2002 TV series "Power Rangers Wild Force," where he played the main character of Cole Evans. The TV series was broadcast on FOX and ABC.
