Report: Islamic State Executes 10 Doctors for Refusing to Treat Jihadists
The Islamic State has reportedly executed ten doctors for refusing to treat jihadists, local media outlets report.
Iraq's Al-Sumaria satellite television network shared photographs this week that purportedly show Islamic State militants executing ten Iraqi doctors by shooting them in the back of the head while they are blindfolded and kneeling.
The doctors had reportedly refused to treat wounded jihadists on the grounds that they don't agree with their beliefs or method of ruthless killing.
The photographs were reportedly taken in Hammam al-Alil, located nine miles south of the Islamic State-controlled city of Mosul.
Shortly after the photographs were released this week, Islamic State militants attacked the capital of Iraq's Anbar province on Friday, reportedly claiming two major areas on the city's outskirts.
The attack caused officials in the Anbar region to call on Iraq's Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to send military backup to Iraqi forces trying to defend the vast Anbar province.
In the city of Fallujah, located in the Anbar province, the Islamic State reportedly called for the killing of 100 local residents for their failure to cooperate with the terrorist group.
"They declared the killing of at least 100 local Fallujah figures to be halal [permitted by Islam] because they have not joined [ISIS] militias," Nouri Aftan, head of a Fallujah citizens' committee, told reporters at a press conference, according to Rudaw.
"They have published and told the public the names of 100 figures who are disobeying the group," he added.
