'Reign' season 4 news, episode 3 spoilers: Gideon tries to persuade Mary to give up her throne

Gideon (Ben Geurens) will try to persuade the Queen of Scots to hand over her throne to live happily ever after with him. Meanwhile, Mary (Adelaide Kane) will continue to form alliances to overthrow Elizabeth's (Rachel Skarsten) and her power to rule.
On the next episode of "Reign" season 4, titled "Leaps of Faith," Gideon will attempt to deceive the Queen of Scots under the influence of her mortal enemy, Elizabeth. As seen from the episode 4 promo, Gideon is having a private conversation with Elizabeth, where he brings up the idea of Mary giving up her throne.
Then, Gideon is next seen asking Mary for her hand in marriage, with the Queen seemingly convinced of his ideas of living happily ever after.
"Gideon shows Mary what life could be like if she chose love over country. Catherine (Megan Follows) fights to cover King Charles' (Spencer MacPherson) increasingly erratic behavior, while Claude (Rose Williams) finds an unlikely enemy in her sister Leeza (Anastasia Phillips)," the synopsis posted on The Futon Critic reads.
But aside from this, Mary still prioritizes her plan to keep Elizabeth from gaining power in the country by forming alliances. "Together, we pose a real threat against Elizabeth's right to rule," the Queen of Scots tells an unidentified person.
Additionally, the narration for the episode promo states, "For the royals, love and deception are one." Elizabeth could make a decision that can change the course of history, but would she be swayed by Gideon's ideals of love?
CarterMatt points out that "Reign" season 4 is overshadowed by a love story, but the underlining theme that prevails are the political consequences that may happen when Mary makes the wrong choice.
However, it is anticipated that Mary will continue to have a power struggle with Elizabeth, and she considers dealing with this as her top priority.
"Reign" season 4 airs every Friday night at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
