'Reign' season 4 episode 3 spoilers: Catherine covers up King Charles' erratic behavior; will Mary and Gideon tie the knot?
Mary (Adelaide Kane) must make a decision that could change the course of history on the upcoming episode of The CW's historical drama "Reign" season 4.
Titled "Leaps of Faith," this week's episode will see the Queen of Scots choose between love and her country. According to the official synopsis, Gideon (Ben Geurens) gives Mary a glimpse of the life she could have if she decides to marry him. Meanwhile, Claude (Rose Williams) finds an unlikely enemy in her sister Leeza (guest star Anastasia Phillips).
Elsewhere, Catherine (Megan Follows) is determined to cover up the increasingly erratic behavior King Charles (Spencer MacPherson) has been showing. To make matters worse, she is also forced to take action when Claude (Rose Williams) finds an unexpected enemy in her sister Leeza (guest star Anastasia Phillips).
The CW has released a new promo for the episode, and it opens with a discussion between Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten) and Gideon. "Mary will always be a target," Elizabeth tells Gideon. He then suggests that he could to something to make Mary step off her throne. The next scene cuts to Gideon asking the Queen of Scots to marry him. "Together, we pose a real threat to Elizabeth's right to rule," Mary says, at some point in the clip.
Gideon's proposal is obviously just a part of Elizabeth's plan to trick her cousin into giving up her right to the throne. However, it's worth noting that Gideon and Mary have also become closer since the time they first met. Whether or not this will lead to Mary choosing to let her guard down remains to be seen. If one thing is for sure, Mary is not easy to deceive. There is also a possibility that she is just using Gideon for a much bigger plan she has for Elizabeth.
The fourth and final season of "Reign" airs every Friday night at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
