Reign Season 2 Spoilers: Recap and Plot Rumors - Mary Becoming Bold and Powerful
The second season of Reign premiered on October 2<sup>nd and it dealt with the arrival of the plague and Francis finding Lola and his son. In the second episode titled "Drawn and Quartered", Narcisse - after the death of his son - wanted revenge against Nostradamus by having him "drawn and quartered".
The second episode also saw Mary having to deal with the return of Francis, Lola and their son.
The arrival of Francis' illegitimate child by Lola is all set to become a major plot point. Adelaide Kane who plays Mary Queen of Scots stated to TvLine that the child is going to create problems for Mary. This ensues because Mary fails to conceive and "Having the child around becomes more of an unspoken pressure for Mary."
Kane also says, "It's becomes a glaring reminder of Mary failing in her duty to bear sons and continue the succession."
Kane even signals that Mary's inability to have a child could cause problems between her and Francis and ultimately lead to them not sharing a bed. Added to Mary's woes is the arrival of the super rich Narcisse. He is looking for vengeance after Mary and Nostradamus had his son Lord Edward locked in a cell with plague victims, which resulted in him dying.
Craig Parker who plays Lord Narcisse describes his characteras "incredibly rich, richer than the royals and that he runs France quietly behind the scenes."
Also Parker describes Narcisse as having done monstrous things in his past, and not feeling the least bit guilty about them. However, it seems he also has a human side and he is looking for a woman whom he can love.
As for Mary, Entertainment Weekly notes that the second season of Reign has already shown that she can be "badass" and has grown into a sexy, powerful woman.
