'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date, rumors: Game to launch as early as June 25?

The "Red Dead" video game series has become one of the most popular open world shooter game series there is today. With the commercial success of "Red Dead Redemption" that was released in PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles in 2010, there will be no surprise if the company decides to give one more shot to the western-based video game filled with cowboy action. There have been rumors keeping the gaming world abuzz that the next installment of the "Red Dead" saga will be released this year, and the latest rumor has it that "Red Dead Redemption" will be out as early as June 25.

In the technology and gaming rumors website Automobile, it was reported that "Red Dead Redemption 2" is, in fact, a reality and Rockstar has already been in the last stages of developing the game. By June 25, the final version of the game will be ready for release. The report seems to get the information from its own trusted source but Rockstar itself has remained quiet with all the rumors pointing to a "Red Dead Redemption" follow-up hitting the newer PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles this year.

Officials from Rockstar have kept mum with the "Red Dead Redemption 2" rumors, but the company's ex-employees and their supposed LinkedIn profiles may have spoiled the surprise of a "Red Dead" sequel. As reported by Christian Today, Ruben Tavares, who listed himself in his LinkedIn profile as senior 3D artist of Rockstar, had claimed to be involved in the development of video games that include "Red Dead Redemption 2," "Grand Theft Auto 5" and "Midnight Club: Los Angeles." However, Tavares explained later on that the "Red Dead Redemption 2" listed in his profile was an "error." This sparked speculations among the "Red Dead" game series fans as Tavares typing in "Red Dead Redemption 2" by mistake does not seem likely.

The first chapter of the "Red Dead" saga was launched in May 2004 entitled "Red Dead Revolver," followed by "Red Dead Redemption" in May 2010. The "Red Dead Redemption 2" is supposed to be the third entry to the video game series, although it is not clear whether the next installment will have a distinguished title from the previous games or direct follow-up to "Red Dead Redemption.

The story of "Red Dead" saga is set in a cowboy's hometown and follows the story of John Marston, an ex-outlaw who sets out to seek justice against the people who wronged him and his group.
