Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recently shared some details about the upcoming "Red Dead Redemption 2," saying that it will have "incredible emotional depth," as well as a great story and great gameplay experience.

"Red Dead Redemption" fans were taken by surprise when the trailer for the sequel to the open-world, western action/adventure video game dropped unexpectedly in October. Prior to the trailer's debut, Rockstar Games had kept mum about its plans for the franchise's future.

While the trailer showcased the sequel's incredible graphics, it didn't reveal much in terms of the game's story. But during a recent appearance at an MKM Partners event, Zelnick spoke about what fans can expect from the sequel. "You can expect there to be great story elements and great gameplay elements," he said. He also revealed that Rockstar and Take-Two took "a different point of view" with regards to the sequel.

"I think the times are right for a big, sprawling, optimistic view of America again — and that's not meant to be cute," he added.

In October, video game and digital media analyst Michael Pachter spoke to Gaming Bolt and said that while "Red Dead Redemption 2" is currently only expected for the PS4 and the Xbox One, Rockstar Games will also eventually release a PC version of the long-awaited title. Pachter also said that staggering the release of the game's different versions is a method the video game publisher uses to keep its games relevant.

"The key words here are right now," Pachter said, comparing the recent announcement of the upcoming "Red Dead Redemption 2" to the release schedule for "Grand Theft Auto 5," which was only made available — at first — for the PS3 and the Xbox 360. It was only three years later that "GTA 5" became available for the PS4 and the Xbox One. Months later, it finally became playable on the PC.

"So they have a history of bleeding out information about their games, and credit to them, it works," Pachter explained. "It keeps fans interested in their games," he added.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" is expected to hit store shelves in fall 2017. No exact release date has been announced.
