'Rectify' season 4 spoilers: New trailer revealed, Daniel struggles to start new life in halfway house

The countdown for the fourth and final season of "Rectify" begins, and fans will witness a bittersweet 8-episode run when the hotly-anticipated series returns later this year.
In the recently-released trailer for season 4, the Holdens attempt to make up for lost time. The emotional clip shows Daniel recalling his time in prison before returning to his small hometown of Paulie, GA. He eventually starts anew in a different town to live in a halfway house with other ex-convicts. However, the complications involving his screwed up family will continue to haunt him.
According to creator Ray McKinnon, the finale will reveal the truth behind Daniel's case — giving fans the closure they need. "There's that issue," McKinnon said during the TCA summer press tour. "And hopefully by the end of the season, it will leave you — in a 'Rectify' way — satisfied. Maybe some will be and some won't, but we're going to address it in some way for sure."
Aside from the case, McKinnon wants the farewell season to answer an important question about Daniel's growth as a character. "Can Daniel become himself? Not who he could've been, but whoever he is now," he continued. The creator further explained that even though the story is fictional, their goal is to come as close to reality as possible. "Part of what we tried to do in the show is — in a skewed way — reflect what life is," McKinnon stated.
"Rectify" follows a young man named Daniel Holden who spent 20 years on death row after being wrongfully accused of killing a teenage girl. He was eventually released from prison and even though most of his loved ones are happy to see him back, some people will do everything they can to bring him down.
Tune in to the season 4 premiere of "Rectify" on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 10 p.m. EST on SundanceTV.
