'Rectify' season 4 release date news 2016: SundanceTV confirms premiere date, show to end after season 4

Ray McKinnon's critically-acclaimed drama "Rectify" is set to return later this year for its fourth season—which unfortunately for fans—will also mark the series' end.
The upcoming farewell season picks up a few months after the season 3 finale featured Daniel being banished from Paulie for his plea deal. Season 4 will see how Daniel will start over with his new life in a different place. According to creator Ray McKinnon, the final season will also reveal if Daniel is really guilty of murder or not.
"There's that issue and hopefully by the end of this season, how we deal with that will leave you, in a Rectify way, satisfied," McKinnon promised during the TCA press tour. "Maybe some people it will, some people it won't. Something's gonna be revealed for sure."
In a press statement, McKinnon spoke about the drama's conclusion and why he does not want to consider it as a dead end. "Rectify is in many ways an existential story that was allowed to come to life during an existential era in serial storytelling," he said. "It was a case of perfect timing with the perfect partners. I have always felt that Rectify could end at any time or just as easily continue. Well, not easily. But there is no perfect 'end' for this story nor for these characters. They will continue to live on. We just won't document them any longer. And the timing of this 'non-end' end feels exactly right."
The plot follows Daniel Holden's (Aden Young) life after serving 19 years on death row and returning to his small Georgia hometown. After spending a huge part of his adult years waiting for his death, he must live a normal life again and start planning for a future. One of his struggles include adapting to modern life and his presence affects everyone around him. Aside from dealing with his fractured family, Daniel must also deal with those who plan to bring him down.
"Rectify" season 4 premieres on Oct. 26 at 10 p.m. EST on SundanceTV.
