Ray Rice Files Wrongful Termination Grievance Against Baltimore Ravens

Former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice has reportedly filed a wrongful termination grievance with the NFL after he was dismissed from the team earlier this year for physically abusing his wife.
Along with filing a grievance against the Baltimore Ravens for terminating his contract, Rice also filed an appeal for the indefinite suspension the NFL gave him after a surveillance video showed him punching his wife in an Atlantic City hotel earlier this year. The hearing for his appeal will take place in November.
According to Pro Football Talk, Rice could win $3.52 million from the Ravens if his grievance and appeal are approved. The media outlet reports that Rice is claiming he was wrongfully terminated because under NFL policy, a player may receive a one-time infraction for misbehavior. When the first video of Rice dragging his girlfriend out of a hotel elevator surfaced earlier this year, he was given a two game suspension. When the second video surfaced of him punching his wife, he was indefinitely suspended from the NFL and dropped from the Ravens.
NFL Comissioner Roger Goodell has received criticism for his handling of the Ray Rice incident, as Goodell claimed the NFL had never received the surveillance tape that showed Rice knocking out his girlfriend with a punch in an elevator.
After a string of PR mishaps, Goodell released a statement saying the NFL will re-evaluate its domestic abuse policy and "get its house in order."
"Unfortunately, over the past several weeks, we have seen all too much of the NFL doing wrong," Goodell said in a statement. "That starts with me."
"The same mistakes can never be repeated," he added.
