'Ray Donovan' season 4 spoilers, plot news update: Avi and Lena question Ray's faithfulness; Showtime greenlights series' renewal
The Donovans' complicated story is far from over since Showtime recently greenlit an early season renewal of the hit drama "Ray Donovan."
Currently in the middle of season 4, the show has been confirmed to have a 12-episode fifth season which will begin production next year. President and CEO of Showtime Networks David Nevins made the announcement last Thursday during the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills, California.

Starring Liev Schreiber, "Ray Donovan" follows the titular character who is considered as LA's best professional fixer. His clientele includes athletes, business moguls, celebrities and other VIPs. While making their problems go away, he must fix his own problems caused by his complicated family. Guest stars for season 4 include Lisa Bonet, Stacy Keach, Diane Ladd, Dabney Coleman, Embeth Davidtz, Ted Levine, Gabriel Mann, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Chris Coppola and Billy Lush.
"Ray Donovan" joins other Showtime dramas "Homeland," "Shameless," "Masters of Sex," "The Affair," and "Billions" which have already been renewed by the network.
The show recently earned five Emmy nominations, including Schreiber's nomination for Best Actor in a Drama, Best Guest Actor in a Drama for Hank Azaria, and Best Supporting Actor for John Voight.
Meanwhile, the last episode titled "The Texan" saw Ray realizing that his family is both a blessing and a curse. He met a dying person who is a future version of himself, leading him to analyze his life and how he relates to his loved ones. He eventually realized that he has to be more open with his son, Conor (Devon Bagby).
The synopsis for next week's episode titled "Goodbye Beautiful" has been released, but it doesn't give much clue as to what direction the story will take. "Avi and Lena doubt Ray's loyalty to Sonia; Mickey returns to Primm," the summary from TV Guide reads.
"Ray Donovan" season 4 airs every Sunday at 9 p.m. EDT on Showtime.
