Quantum Break news: Update adds 'Quit' button, resolves upscaling and poor performance

Microsoft Studios

Remedy Entertainment's "Quantum Break" was initially released last month, but the PC version of the video game had a lot of technical issues. Problems include a missing button for exiting the game, forced upscaling, as well as poor overall performance. In the game developer's effort to give users a better gaming experience, they released a 27 GB update to address some of the problems.

In the new update, a proper "Qxit" button has been added to the main menu. It is one important aspect that the developers might have missed, but they have finally included one. New graphics options have also been made available, allowing users to disable Film Grain and the technology known as "Upscaling." What exactly is this technology? As noted by MobiPicker, the said technology "rendered the game at a lower resolution than the one selected in graphics options, and then 'upscaled' to that resolution, resulting in a blurry picture." Now, users can turn it off, and the outlet describes the end result as "breathtaking." Additionally, there is an option to switch the display from full-screen to windowed has been included which can be done by pressing Alt + Enter. G-Sync issues have been resolved as well. The full changelog can be viewed here.

Remedy Entertainment previously stated that Microsoft is working out a solution for the memory management problem in Windows 10. According to Windows Report, the company has already identified the problem in GPUs which cause the game to crash on some computers. Apparently, the crash usually  takes place in high game settings so a future Windows update addressing the issue will be released any time soon.

Meanwhile, CNET noted that Remedy Entertainment might be working on a new project. The game is still unannounced and the developer has yet to confirm if the reports are true. The outlet claims that the company has been closely working on the game since August 2015.
