PS4 Neo release date, price news: The latest speculations on Sony's upcoming console

Sony is rumored to release the PlayStation 4 Neo this year or in early 2017. Although Sony confirmed that the console is in the works, the company has yet to reveal its price or its release date.
Details about the forthcoming console will reportedly be unveiled in New York on Sept. 7. Attendees are expected to have an opportunity to see the PS4 Neo, also known as the PS4.5 or PS4K, during the meeting's technical showcase.
The design for the PS4 Neo will be something new. However, it will also have hardware improvements. PS4 Neo will support 4K resolution and it will be Sony's first 4K console. Unlike the PS4's AMD GCN with 18 compute units running at 800 MHz, the PS4 Neo will have 36 compute units which will run at a faster 911 MHz clock speed.
Hence, Neo will be able to keep up with intense titles and provide players with a smooth gaming experience.
Moreover, Sony executive Andrew House revealed that the forthcoming console will complement the standard PS4 consoles. All games intended for the PS4 will also work on the upcoming console.
Sources suggest that Sony's PlayStation Virtual Reality (VR) headset, which is scheduled for release on Oct. 16, might have urged the company to create the PS4 Neo. More advanced hardware will certainly improve the VR experience.
The initial performance of the PlayStation VR headset in past consoles disappointed many fans. But with Neo, fans are expecting to have a better gaming experience. Rumors suggest that Sony might be developing exclusive PlayStation VR titles for the PS4 Neo.
In addition, EA Games is reportedly developing new titles for the upcoming console, and their development team is thrilled about the new hardware.
Although Sony has yet to announce the console's price, it could range from $399 to $499.
Aside from the PS4 Neo, gamers are expecting the PS4 Slim which is rumored to launch on Sept. 14. Other than its slim design, the console will not have any significant upgrades.
