'Prison Break' season 5 spoilers, plot news: Series creator confirms reduced number of episodes, money not sole motivator for reboot according to Sara Wayne Callies

Fox's most anticipated revival series "Prison Break" season 5 is all set to premiere next year, and fans can't wait to see the crime drama's original characters return for a new riveting story.
Fans of the iconic TV series were delighted when news broke out about a revival season underway. Unfortunately for fans, the program's average 20-episode run will not happen and the upcoming season will have fewer episodes. He mentioned that the idea of a revival came from lead star Wentworth Miller who first expressed his interest in portraying Michael Scofield again.
"He said he wanted to inhabit it for a few more episodes. I said, 'Look, nobody wants to revive this thing for multiple seasons and that whole long slog, but if we can tell a concise, closed-ended story in nine or ten episodes, I'd be amenable to that,'" creator Paul Scheuring told Entertainment Weekly.
According to executive producer Vaun Wilmott, the reboot couldn't have come at a better time since the original themes are still relevant to this day. "I think it resonates because of family and the bond between the brothers," he said during the show's Comic-Con panel. "The simple idea that you would do anything to save or help your loved ones is universal."
Before Sarah Wayne Callies signed up to reprise her role as Michael's ex-wife Sara Tancredi, she mentioned in an interview how she made sure that money was not the sole motivator for the project. "It matters to me that we do this well," she told Digital Spy. "The reason that I was the last cast member to sign on is because I wanted to make sure that we were doing this because there was a really great new story to be told - not because somebody at Fox thought that they could make a lot of money.
"Prison Break" season 5 premieres Spring 2017 on Fox, airing Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. EST.
