'Prison Break' season 5 spoilers, plot news: Dominic Purcell explains Michael's return, hints how season 5 storyline plays out

After years of hiatus, Fox's top-rating crime drama, "Prison Break" is all set to make a comeback on 2017, and fans are excited to see the original cast members return for season 5 with more action-packed episodes.
The new season picks up years after show ended in May 2009 with Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) presumed dead by his friends and family. Fast forward to season 5, his brother Lincoln (Dominic Purcell) finds out that Michael is still alive, and he will try to execute an elaborate plan to get his brother out of prison with the help of Michael's estranged wife Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies).
In an interview with Deadline, Purcell shared some details regarding his character and how the storyline for season 5 will play out. "It's tying into what's going on in the world today with terrorism," the actor explained. "The show is taking place in Yemen; we're dealing with ISIS and ISA, and obviously we left off with Michael presumably dead. He wasn't, he ended up working for this organization. It got to the point where he couldn't do it anymore, and they threw him in a jail in Yemen to change his mind. He didn't change his mind, they set him up...Paul Scheuring has written all of the nine episodes. Honestly, the fans are going to be blown away by this. It's really a riveting, high-tension thriller. It's an extraordinary, extraordinary show. I've seen the dailies of it, and it looks like a cross between Bourne Identity and American Sniper. It's crazy. It's really, really cool."
Purcell previously sustained some on-set injuries after performing stunts while filming for the series. According to iDigital Times, an iron bar fell on top of his head, and the actor sustained deep gashes, a broken nose and 150 stitches in total. The actor was able to recover quickly which came as a surprise to everyone on set. Purcell mentioned that his bruises may be hard to cover, but it surely worked well for his character's appearance. "Totally, and you wouldn't notice, but I think it's great for the show. I mean, Lincoln's always got bruises—he's always fighting and getting in scraps, so it just works perfectly with the character," he explained.
