'Prison Break' Season 5 news, updates, rumors: Series begins filming; Story to expand to international level?

Fans of the popular TV action drama "Prison Break" have been very excited to hear the news that the hit FOX series is revived for a fifth season, and now they will get more excited as "Prison Break" Season 5 has formally begun its production. Latest reports show that shooting has already commenced in many places around the world, which is an indication the show will be expanding its story to an international level like never before.

The news broke that "Prison Break" is currently filming in locations outside the United States such as the cities of Casablanca, Rabat and Ouarzazate in Morocco, Morocco World News first scooped. The Morocco-based printed publication revealed that the "Prison Break" production team applied for a local filming permit in order to proceed with the shooting. The permit reveals that the cast and crew are allowed to shoot in the three Morrocan cities from March 28 to June 17.

The Bitbag reported that Fox co-chairman and CEO Dana Walden previously revealed a few details about the planned nine-episode revival season which is going to explore new locations in the international landscape.

The "Prison Break" revival season will tell the story of brothers Michael Scofield (played by Wentworth E. Miller III) and Lincoln Burrows (played by Dominic Purcell) as they begin a new journey that will bring them to many places outside the country and face new adversaries and challenges along the way. The official synopsis reveals that the fifth season will begin a few years after Michael's apparent death with the love of his life, Dr. Sara (played by Sarah Wayne Callies), moving on with her life and married Scott Ness (played by Mark Feuerstein). Limited information about the new story and returning cast members was shared by Fox.

Latest reports suggest that "Prison Break" Season 5 will be aired in early 2017, but there is also a possibility that the premiere will arrive as early as September 2016.
