"Prison Break" will be returning to Fox for a fifth season, following its season 4 finale in 2009. Reports say that the Fox revival begins production in Vancouver this April in preparation for a nine-episode run. New cast members are set to join the show, together with original cast members Wentworth Miller as Michael Scofield and Dominic Purcell as Lincoln Burrows. Stars Sarah Wayne Callies, Robert Knepper, Amary Nolasco, and Rockmond Dunbar will also be reprising their roles respectively as Dr. Sara Tancredi, T-Bag-Sucre, and C-Note.

Just recently, reports say that Paul Adelstein will also be back as Paul Kellerman in the series.

The upcoming season of "Prison Break" will serve as a sequel to its fourth season, as mentioned by the show's chairperson and CEO Dana Walden. "I would describe it as a bit of a sequel. It picks up the characters several years after we left them in the last season of the show. The brothers will be back. Some of the iconic characters from that show will be back. I don't think [exec producer] Paul [Scheuring] knows exactly where he's going over the 10-episode arc, but it definitely will address some questions that were set up at the end of the series for a new audience," she told TVLine.

Initially released in 2005, "Prison Break" revolves around Michael Scofield as he tries to proves the innocence of his wrongfully-convicted brother. To save him from death row, Michael devises an elaborate plan to help his brther escape prison. Michael apparently died in the series finale titled "Prison Break: The Final Break" which was aired in 2009. However, series Co-Chairman and CEO Gary Newman confirms that the particular point in the story will be "ignored," with Walden adding, "What [Paul] pitched to us was a very logical and believable — in the world of Prison Break — explanation for why our characters are alive and still moving around the world."

No word yet on a confirmed release date from Fox, but it will definitely be aired for a 2016-2017 season according to Variety.
