'Pretty Little Liars' season 7B cast news, spoilers, air date: 'Chicago Med' star Torrey DeVitto returns as Melissa, Shay Mitchell shares plans after 'Pretty Little Liars'
Torrey DeVitto is heading back to Rosewood when Freeform's hit mystery drama "Pretty Little Liars" returns to the airwaves next year.
According to reports, a family reunion will be happening in the show's final season. However, it won't be a happy one, following the tragic fate of one major character in the midseason finale. The "Chicago Med" actress is slated to reprise her role as Spencer Hastings' (Troian Bellisario) sister Melissa in the Freeform drama's final batch of episodes.
DeVitto has been playing a recurring character since the series debuted in 2010. Melissa was last seen in the last few episodes of season six when she became a suspect in Charlotte's (Vanessa Ray) murder. Although it wasn't revealed whether she was involved in the crime or not, she decided to move away from Rosewood allegedly because of the threats she has been receiving from the latest Big Bad. Since then, she has not appeared in the program.
Wren Kingston (Julian Morris), Melissa's former lover, is also slated to return for season 7B. In a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer Charlie Craig hinted that Wren's return is a "part of the ultimate final twist in the final episode." In some of the show's flashbacks, it was revealed that Melissa and Wren broke up because Charlotte told Wren about Melissa's dark past. Aside from Spencer being very suspicious of her own sister, Melissa also accidentally buried Bethany Young alive when she thought she was Alison DiLaurentis (Sasha Pieterse).
On another note, star Shay Mitchell recently caught up with Self and she shared her plans after "Pretty Little Liars" wraps up next year. According to the 29-year-old actress, she'd like to focus more on her YouTube channel which often features interviews with her friends and co-stars. Aside from running her social media empire, Mitchell is also set to star in a thriller titled "Cadaver," where she will play the role of a former cop/recovering addict working at a morgue.
The second part of "Pretty Little Liars" season 7 premieres on April 2017 on Freeform.
