'Pretty Little Liars' season 7 return date, news, spoilers: Season finale is a two-hour special; someone dies and someone gets married

The final episode ever of "Pretty Little Liars" is set to be a two-hour special, which will serve as a tribute and a special goodbye to all the fans of the show and its characters. Meanwhile, the second half of season 7 will feature someone's death and someone's wedding.

"Pretty Little Liars" is on its final run, ending the long-running show on its seventh season on Freeform. Series executive producer I Marlene King shared in an interview with The Wrap that the finale episode of the show will be a two-hour special, which she and Maya Goldsmith wrote and directed.

King added that the final 10 episodes of "Pretty Little Liars" season 7 are "the most powerful 10 episodes" that they have ever had during the show's entire run.

The showrunner also teased that fans will be satisfied with the second half of season 7 because all of their questions will be finally answered before "Pretty Little Liars" runs its final ending credits.

In a dedication post for the show, King revealed that all the lead characters â€” Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Hanna (Ashley Benson), Aria (Lucy Hale), Emily (Shay Mitchell), and Alison (Sasha Pieterse) â€” will be in the final shot.

"When I call 'cut' on the very last scene, all five PLLs will be in the shot. Tears will be spilled, gifts will be exchanged, and final memories will be made. The most meaningful gift, however, is that we call ourselves 'PLL Family' because that is how much we mean to each other," her post read.

It appears that King has a lot in store for the second half of the show's final season, as she revealed on Twitter tidbits of a death and a wedding. Aside from the script lines indicating those two separate events, there are no details yet that reveal which characters will be involved in those major scenes.

Although plans for a spin-off or a reboot show are still far from the radar, King expressed that she is very open to the idea of bringing the characters back together somewhere in the future.

"Pretty Little Liars" season 7 returns on April 18 on Freeform.
