The TV adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's highly praised comic book "Preacher" is set to premiere on AMC on May 22.

Producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg received a positive response when they screened the pilot episode of "Preacher" at SXSW last March 14. Sam Catlin, who is also a part of AMC's all-time hit Breaking Bad, is a key player in "Preacher" as the writer/showrunner.

Horror-drama series "Preacher" tells the story of a conflicted Texas preacher named Jesse Cutler (Dominic Cooper) who h supernatural powers. During the post-event interview, lifelong friends Rogen and Goldberg admitted how the TV adaptation has been a decade-old passion project for them, as reported by Variety.

The show's three leads Dominic Cooper, Ruth Negga and Joe Gilgun were also among the panel. In spite of the series being set in West Texas, the three actors are actually from the United Kingdom. "It hasn't been easy. I feel awful sitting here in Texas — it's a work in progress," Cooper explained when asked about his on-screen accent.

In an interview with The Verge, Sam Catlin was asked how he is running the writer's room for "Preacher" in comparison with his past experience as a part of Vince Gilligan's team for Breaking Bad. "It's me and six other writers, and we operate it basically the way Vince ran Breaking Bad," explained Catlin. He stressed the value of everyone being on the same page, with all the writers thinking in cohesion.

"So that's the structure, and then a writer of an episode goes to be on set, and they sort of produce their episode, and they're the voice of the writers for that particular episode. So I'm trying to steal as much as possible from Breaking Bad," he added.

Published by the DC imprint Vertigo in 1995, the highly celebrated "Preacher" comic book ran for 75 issues in total before finishing in 2000.
