AMC literally turned up the heat as the network released the latest promo video clip for "Preacher." The forthcoming TV series is based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's Vertigo comic book, and it is confirmed to premiere on May.

"Preacher" follows the journey of Reverend Jesse Custer, a small-town preacher who lost faith in God. According to Comic Book Resources, Jesse found out that God left Heaven and his responsibilities. This led the preacher to go on a quest to hunt down God and make him answer for abandoning his obligations. Accompanying Jesse in his adventure is his ex-girlfriend and a vampire who would rather drink at a pub than prey on innocent victims. Completing the story as the antagonist is the Saint of Killers, whose main objective is to track Jesse down.

Last March, a special screening of the series' pilot episode was held, where producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg discussed their passion project. The two shared that they have been trying to adapt the show for 10 years, and it couldn't have come at a better time. "We read the comic book from when it first came out, and as soon as we had any power in Hollywood, we tried to make it," Rogen stated in the report by Variety.

The synopsis for the show via TV Series Finale reads:

"'Preacher' is a supernatural, twisted and darkly comedic drama that follows a West Texas preacher named Jesse Custer, who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that causes him to develop a highly unusual power. Jesse, his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip and an Irish vagabond named Cassidy come together and when they do, they are thrust into a crazy world populated by a cast of characters from Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between. The series stars Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer, Joseph Gilgun as Cassidy, Ruth Negga as Tulip, Lucy Griffiths as Emily, W. Earl Brown as Sherriff Root, Anatol Yusef as DeBlanc, Tom Brooke as Fiore, Derek Wilson as Donnie Schenck and Ian Colletti as Eugene/Arseface."

"Preacher" airs Sunday, May 22 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on AMC. Along with Rogen and Goldberg, Breaking Bad's Sam Catlin is also a producer of the show.
