'Power' season 3 news 2016: Tommy beaten badly in latest teaser; 'Be careful what you wish for' to be new season's main theme

"Power" only has one month to go before its much-awaited season 3 premiere, and viewers will see more intense episodes once the Starz drama series returns to the small screen.
Last Tuesday, the show's official Twitter account dropped two teasers for the upcoming season, giving fans a glimpse of how the story will play out. Season 2 left off with a lot of people running after James 'Ghost' St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick), particularly his childhood friends Tommy (Joseph Sikora) and Kanan (50 Cent) who both want to seek retribution. It remains to be seen if they will succeed with their plan, but if one thing is for certain, viewers can expect more action once the show returns.
"I really want to blow people's minds," showrunner Courtney Kemp told Entertainment Weekly. "I really want to pump more octane into season 3. More things will happen and there's more stimuli. It's not that you can't have quiet moments, but I want people to have this adrenaline-fueled experience at home. We have that in movies all the time, but I want to reach in and make you have a reaction."
As for the storyline, Ghost will have issues with trying to break free from his other life. After being in a lot of trouble following his involvement in drugs, viewers will see him deal with his personal struggles. "Together, we've really constructed a world where all the choices are deliberate," Kemp explained. "Ghost has no idea how to just be James, and how to let go of his Ghost persona entirely. He doesn't know how to go straight." Kemp also added that the entire season's main theme is "Be careful what you wish for."
What will be Tommy's next move after being badly beaten up? Was it Ghost's way of telling him to back off? Find out all the answers when "Power" returns for season 3 this coming July 17 at 9 p.m. EST on Starz.
