'Power Rangers' release date, news and updates: Toy gives audience first look at the Megazord

Next year will see the arrival of the "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" reboot, and marketing is slowly picking up its steam. Though the Dinozords have been teased in posters before, no look has been given of the fully completed Megazord — until now.
The "Power Rangers" Twitter account just posted a picture of the Megazord toy that will be released for the movie, and it has a more slender look than the classic robot that fans are used to from the series. The original is a bit clunkier and resembles classic Japanese mechs like "Voltes V" and "Mazinger Z."
The Zord also looks to be put together differently compared to the classic Megazord. The original Megazord had the Sabretooth Tiger and Triceratops forming the legs, the T-Rex and Pterodactyl forming the main body, and the Mammoth turning into the arms. The new version still has the T-Rex as the main torso, but the Sabretooth Tiger is now the core of the Zord. The Mammoth and Triceratops form the legs, and the Pterodactyl now forms the head. The new Zord also comes with wings which also seem to come from the Pterodactyl.
Though the toy posted on Twitter may be a Zord that comes formed in the package, another leak showcases a new Zord that seems to be put together from five different toys. The figure still has a slender physique, but the parts are more clearly separated this time around.
Back in the '90s, the "Power Rangers" toys also had five different animals to form the Megazord. A notable difference in both is also the weapons that they wield. Though the classic Zord has separate hand-held weapons like the sword and shield, the new one seems to have its weapons fused to its hands.
The "Power Rangers" reboot hits theaters on March 24, 2017.
