Police Raid British Pub In Search Of Holy Grail
Police have reportedly raided a British pub in search of an ancient wooden relic that is allegedly the Holy Grail, believed by many Christians to be the cup Jesus drank from before he was crucified.
West Mercia police received a warrant to search the Crown Inn in Lea, Herefordshire for the relic that resembles a half-decayed wooden bowl. Police received a tip from a local resident who claimed to have seen someone at the pub showing off the cup, also known as the Nanteos Cup, after it was allegedly stolen from a home in Aberystwyth in July.
Di Franklyn, landlady of the pub, told Reuters that police arrived this week and "turned the place upside down. They came with fiber optic cameras to look in all the corners and nooks and crannies, and under the floorboards […] they were clearly serious about it."
"If somebody had stolen something as priceless as the Holy Grail I don't think it would be on show in my pub," the landlady, whose pub is from the 15th Century, added to BBC News. "I have been shown a picture of the missing cup - if it had been here we would have thrown it on the fire because it is not whole any more," the landlady added.
The only thing remotely resembling the famed Holy Grail cup found at the Crown Inn was a salad bowl, the landlady told local media outlets. The real Holy Grail cup is 10 cm by 8.5 cm and held together with wire staples and kept in a velvet bag for safekeeping. It was stolen from a home in Weston-Under-Penyard sometime in mid-July.
