'Poldark' season 2 release date, spoilers news: Eleanor Tomlinson encourages women to stop objectifying men's bodies

After a 16-month break, "Poldark" will return for its second season next month. The story will pick up right where season 1 left off, and a new trailer featuring what lies ahead has been released by the network.

The teaser shows a topless Ross Poldark (Aidan Turner), straining his muscles as he hammers a chisel into the walls of an underground mining site. "A known revolutionary... wedded his scullery maid... wrecker and suspected murderer... Mr. Poldark, Here we are again," various background voices say in the clip.

Poldark can also be heard saying: "I make no apology for my action," while Demelza responds to him: "You must answer to judge and jury and if you're found guilty." Additionally, the trailer hints a wedding, death, a funeral and infidelity. Turner being partially clad may come off as a surprise to fans since series creator Debbie Horsfield previously mentioned that Turner will no longer appear topless in the series.

Meanwhile, the upcoming season was screened at the British Film Institute yesterday (Aug. 22), and both lead stars Turner and  Eleanor Tomlinson attended the event to join the creators. In line with Turner being topless in the trailer, Tomlinson called on women to stop objectifying men's bodies.

"As a feminist, I think feminism is about gender equality across the board," she said during the Q&A session after the screening (via Telegraph.) "We shouldn't objectify anyone. Of course, there's an element that's fun and it can be harmless, but there's also a serious element."

Season 2 will explore the time when Ross and Demelza (Tomlinson) have just lost their child and Ross' company failed. The couple are now broke and to make matters worse, Ross got arrested and must serve time in jail.

"Poldark" season 2 officially premieres on Sept. 4.
