'Pokémon GO' updates: Pichu, Togepi, Magby, Elekid, Smoochum, Igglybuff and Cleffa added to the game

When Niantic announced that they were adding more Pokémon to the game on Dec. 12, trainers were all hyped up about the possible addition of the entire Generation 2 Pokémon roster or perhaps the Generation 1 Legendary Pokémon such as Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mew, and Mewtwo.
The good news is that Niantic kept their promise by adding more Pokémon to "Pokémon GO." The bad news is they only added several Baby Pokémon that can only be hatched from eggs. These are Pichu, Togepi, Magby, Elekid, Smoochum, Igglybuff and Cleffa.
After all the buildup, Niantic's big reveal just wasn't big enough for most players. Just take a look at some of the reactions compiled by Kotaku's Cecilia D'Anastasio. Forbes contributor Paul Tassi noted that players have been expecting to see a lot more because of the way Niantic was hyping up their announcement.
"I feel like if this announcement would have come out of nowhere, it would have been much better received by players, but rumblings of a 'big' December update paired with Niantic themselves adding 'new Pokémon' to the game in the wake of these big branding deals let everyone's imaginations run wild, myself included," he stated.
But at least Niantic also announced that the Baby Pokémon are going to be "the first of more Pokémon coming to Pokémon GO over the next few months." So, there's more to look forward to.
Trainers will have to be patient, though, because Niantic still has a lot on their plate. The long-rumored Trading system and player-versus-player (PvP) mode aren't in the game yet, and developers are still ironing out all the kinks in the Nearby feature. But at least there is progress on that end because they have been expanding the tracking feature to more areas in the past few weeks.
Right now, Niantic is trying its best to improve the best right now. The company has recently announced that they are partnering with Sprint and Starbucks to turn their stores into PokéStops and Gyms.
