'Pokemon Go' Plus wearables news update: Nintendo launches Pokemon Go Plus wearable; features and price revealed

"Pokémon Go" players will have a new way of levelling up after Nintendo finally launched the Pokémon Go Plus wearable device.

After a long wait, Nintendo officially released its Pokémon Go Plus wearable device. Shaped like a teardrop featuring the Pokémon logo, the device is paired with a smartphone to enhance the player's augmented reality gaming experience.

The new accessory costs $35 and it is essentially a Bluetooth-enabled device. Aside from the wrist, it can also be attached to a pocket, belt or strap since it comes with a lanyard bracelet. After pairing it with a phone, users can play the game without having to keep looking at the screen all the time.

According to Engadget, the Pokémon Go Plus is most useful for PokéStops. Once the device vibrates and flashes blue, the player can simply press the button and a bounty of Poké Balls will immediately be added to the inventory. However, it will only be possible if the inventory is not yet full or if the player does not leave the PokéStop's range before collecting all the goodies. The device will flash in a rainbow of colors if he/she is sucessful, while it will flash red if the process failed.

The wearable lights up and vibrates when a Pokémon is near but unfortunately, there's no way to tell what level or kind that Pokémon is. There is also no way to change which kind of Poké Ball to throw. For instance, if a player decides to use raspberries or an Ultra Ball, he/she must change the settings through a smartphone. As noted by TechCrunch, the device also supports additional features including buddy training and step tracking for hatching eggs.

The Pokémon Go Plus can be purchased either from Amazon, GameStop or Nintendo UK's online shop.
