'Pokémon GO' tips, updates: Buddy system to make earning candies easier; legendary Pokémon coming soon?

Big updates are afoot for Niantic's massively popular game, "Pokémon GO."

Latest data mining reports have uncovered hints of some of the upcoming features that fans can expect to see in future updates. One of which is the buddy system feature which will allow the trainer to choose one Pokémon to serve as a "Buddy." The Pokémon Buddy can then follow the trainer around and collect candies for its evolution.

The codes also suggest that a trainer can walk with only one Buddy at a time and that the number of candies that a Buddy walk can generate may be limited. This feature is also expected to use the same distance calculation as the one currently being used for hatching Pokémon eggs. There are also codes defining the Pokémon Buddy's appearances as they walk alongside the trainer. A Pokémon Buddy can be of medium and big sizes, and can either walk, fly, or rest on the trainer's shoulder depending on its type.

Other than the Buddy walk, Niantic also seems to be planning on making it easier for trainers to search for Pokémon that are available for trading. With codes like "Trade_search" and "Trade_offer," a trainer can know which Pokémon a fellow trainer is willing to trade while also sharing his own trading list.

Perhaps the most promising placeholder embedded in the 0.35.0 update is the code "activity_catch_legend_pokemon" which seems to be hinting that trainers will finally be able to catch Legendary Pokémon in the near future.

There is also a possibility of a kind of incense that can attract a particular type of Pokémon to a specific location being added to the game.

These are all just speculations based on codes discovered in the latest data mining efforts done by AeonLucid's PogoProtos, and some of the passionate "Pokémon GO" gamers on Reddit.

Niantic has yet to release official statements regarding these rumored updates. Consequently, the release date for the rumored updates is not set.
