'Pokémon Go' guide: How to evolve an Eevee

Eevee is one of the most versatile Pokémon in Niantic's mobile game "Pokémon Go" because it can evolve into three different forms — a Flareon, a Vaporeon, and a Jolteon. But in the second generation of "Pokémon Go," Eevee's evolutionary path will expand, as it will then be able to evolve into an Espeon and an Umbreon.
Since the game's release, many enthusiastic trainers have discovered and are trying to discover ways to control this Pokémon's evolution.
One relatively easy way to control Eevee's evolution is to rename it. Fans of the original series are probably familiar with the Eevee brothers — Sparky, Pyro, and Rainer. In "Pokémon Go," Niantic equated the three Eevee brothers with the three different forms that the Pokemon can evolve into.
To get a Flareon, trainers need to rename Eevee to Pyro. If players want a Vaporeon, Eevee must be renamed Rainer. Lastly, changing the name of Eevee to Sparky will produce a Jolteon.
Though the second generation of the game has not been released, fans are clamoring to know how to evolve Eevee into an Espeon and an Umbreon.
There have been a lot of speculations surrounding the second generation of Pokémon.
One theory regarding Eevee's evolutionary path in the second generation involves combat points. In the original game, players need to raise Eevee's friendship level to 220 to evolve into one of the two forms. A report from Slash Gear says that in the second generation of "Pokemon Go," Niantic might use combat points instead, a feature already available in the game.
Once players have reached the required number of combat points, they will then be able to evolve Eevee into an Umbreon or an Espeon. However, like in the original series, evolving Eevee during a particular time of day will correspond to a particular evolutionary form.
The report added that evolving Eevee during the day, starting from 4 a.m. to 5:59 p.m., will result in players getting an Espeon. On the other hand, when players evolve Eevee at night, starting from 6 p.m. to 3:59 a.m., Pokemon trainers will get an Umbreon.
Niantic has yet to reveal the details of the second generation. The video game developer hasn't announced the launch date as well. But many expect the second generation to launch next year.
