'Pokémon Go' cheats, tips news: How to catch them all

Video game developer Niantic has made the dreams of many Pokémon fans come true. With Pokémon Go, players can actually explore their surroundings and catch Pokémon in their area.

For the uninitiated, players need Poké Balls to catch Pokémon. Initially, players are offered three different Pokémon, most likely a Bulbasaur, a Squirtle or a Charmander. To catch one, players need to aim for the circle above the Pokémon and then throw the Poké Ball towards it.

Circles could be green, orange, or red. These colors indicate different levels of difficulty in terms of catching the Pokemon. A green circle means that the Pokémon is easy to catch. An orange circle indicates medium difficulty while a red one means the Pokémon will be tough to catch.

According to Value Walk, players can bypass the three initial Pokémon offered by the game and get a Pikachu instead. The report states that players just need to ignore the initial offers until their cellphones vibrate. Players need to avoid catching Pokémon until a Pikachu appears. Value Walk reveals that the process takes at least five times until this happens.

Pokémon Go will display a map of the user's surroundings. Rustling on the ground indicates that a Pokémon is close. At the lower right corner of the screen, players can see the nearby Pokémon. If the bar shows a gray Pokémon silhouette, it suggests that a Pokémon which the player hasn't caught yet is close by.

Value Walk reports that an English newspaper once claimed that placing a smartphone on top of a turntable tricks the game into thinking that the player is moving. Hence, this trick is great for increasing walking distances and for hatching eggs.

The news outlet also suggested apps that players can download to aid them in catching Pokémon. For instance, PokeNest is an app which players can use to find Pokémon Go nests, areas that contain multiple numbers of a particular Pokémon.

On the other hand, there are riskier apps such as IOSEmus which provides players with hacks and a map scanner feature that the game has released. However, gamers who use this app are in danger of being banned by Niantic.

The traditional way of finding and catching Pokémon might not easily boost players' ranks but at least it stays true to the entire Pokémon experience.
