PlayStation VR news: October release confirmed, updates on price, specs, and games

One of the most awaited gadgets of the year, PlayStation VR UK is finally confirmed to hit the market in October, with a selling price of £349 in the UK and $399 for those in the US.
In a report by PCAdvisor, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Andrew House officially announced the details on the PlayStation VR last March 15 at the Metreon Center in San Francisco. Final specs for the PSVR headset include a 5.7in OLED display with a full HD resolution (1920x180), which equates to 960x1080 per eye. It also has a 120Hz refresh rate, together with the 18ms response which House believes is enough to convince gamers that what they are seeing is real. Additionally, nine LEDs are included to let the PlayStation Camera determine the location of people in the room, even if they're not facing the console.
Formerly known as "Project Morpheus," rumors have been circulating all over the web concerning the PSVR's details, until House confirmed everything in a gaming event in San Francisco. Most importantly, its $399 price is cheaper compared to other Virtual Reality headsets, like Oculus Rift which sells for $599 and HTC's Vive which is £689 apiece.
The PSVR also boasts a "Cinematic mode," which lets gamer watch movies or play flatscreen games. Standard PS4 media and are among the supported content for the Cinematic mode, coupled with other PS4 features as well as Share Play and Live from PlayStation, Mirror reports.
From 230 developers working for the PSVR, 160 games are currently in progress with 50 of those anticipated to be commercially available by the end of 2016. Reports say that among the games expected to come out are: Eagle Flight (Ubisoft), EVE: Valkyrie (CCP Games), Headmaster (Frame Interactive), Rez Infinite(Enhance Games) and Wayward Sky (Uber Entertainment). An all-new Star Wars Battlefront is also underway with the collaboration of EA, DICE and Lucasfilm.
