PlayStation NEO release date, news, rumors, update: Latest console to be released this year?

It has already been rumored in the past several months that Sony will be unveiling the new PlayStation console called NEO this year. In fact, many PlayStation followers believe that the anticipated gaming device would be introduced to the public during the recently concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016. However, the said event has already concluded last week and Sony's presentation ended without a sight of PlayStation NEO. Still, the rumors are still rife that the company is saving the best for last as the console is now expected to be released towards the end of the year.
Cinema Blend reported that the PlayStation NEO is likely to be released sometime this year, with the best bet of being launched during the month of November. The next big thing in the gaming world is said to surpass the advanced graphics and technology of Sony's latest generation console, the PlayStation 4. Perhaps the biggest and most interesting feature of PlayStation NEO is the enhanced 4K screen resolution. NEO is also expected to be compatible with the virtual reality headset, PlayStation VR.
Digital Foundry's engineering expert, Richard Leadbetter, also noted of the PlayStation NEO's absence from the E3 event this year, and in spite of the console being a no-show, there is still a chance that NEO will surprise everyone with its launching this 2016, Eurogamer reported.
"Several sources have indicated to me that PlayStation Neo launches this year, despite its E3 no-show. If that is the case, it'll be interesting to see how developers utilize its resources, and whether 4K really is the focus. And we can be equally as sure that Microsoft will be watching just as intently as it gears up for its own next-gen roll-out," Leadbetter said in a statement.
It can be recalled that during the E3 event, the public was caught by surprise with Microsoft's announcement of a new powerful gaming platform called the Xbox Scorpio. However, the unveiling of the new Xbox console is quite early for the company as Scorpio is still expected to be launched over a year after its E3 appearance. The Xbox Scorpio is believed to compete with the PlayStation NEO in the market.
