PlayStation Neo release date news: Device garnered mixed reactions from players

There have been numerous reports suggesting that the Japanese tech manufacturer Sony is preparing to launch a new gaming console called PlayStation Neo. The rumor has sparked mixed reactions from various tech observers.

Despite this exciting news, rumor has it that the upcoming console is not going to be a full upgrade but rather a refreshed version of the current PlayStation 4. It may be disappointing to some fans but others are hoping that new features and superior specs will be added to PlayStation Neo.

There are also players who express their concerns about the upcoming device. Gaming Central reported that game developers may prefer to produce title compatible to the PlayStation Neo. This could make the current PlayStation 4 obsolete in the process. If rumors prove to be true, fans are hoping that new game titles intended for Neo will also have another version for PlayStation 4.

There are also reports suggesting that game developers think there's not much difference if Sony decides to release a mid-cycle console refreshed between the current PlayStation 4 and the rumored PlayStation 5. According to a report by Daily Star Psyonix VP Jeremy Dunham said that there are many considerations developers need to make before deciding to make another gaming platform.

"Because it's really just a matter of whether or not you can support another platform, and that's really what it boils down to -- how the pros and cons of the hardware, or the extra VA time needed, or the amount of new assets you have to build, those are all considerations that all developers have to make, any time they develop for any additional platform, be it Sony or Microsoft or even the iPad," explains Dunham.

Meanwhile, Sony has yet to provide significant information with regard to the development of the PlayStation Neo. However, fans believe that it is only a matter of time before the company makes it official.
