'Pitch Perfect 3' release date, news & update: Anna Kendrick and Adam Devine not returning for third film?
Although there haven't been any official statements about the third installment of the "Pitch Perfect" film franchise, fans and speculators are talking about all kinds of rumors regarding the upcoming film. Recent reports suggested that Anna Kendrick and Adam Devine will not be reprising their roles.
According to reports, Kendrick, who portrayed Beca in the first two films, will be replaced by a different actress. The studio is reportedly taking their time before starting production for the third movie. For that reason, sources said, Kendrick will be replaced.
Rumor has it that "Gossip Girl" alum Leighton Meester will be taking on the lead role in the upcoming film. However, several names have also popped up in the latest reports. Sources said that the lead role could be played by "Glee" alum Lea Michele or "High School Musical" alum Vanessa Hudgens.
On the other hand, Pop Sugar reported that the third installment will feature Kendrick, Brittany Snow, and Rebel Wilson. The news outlet also reported that the sequel will feature the remaining Bella, Hailee Steinfeld.
Previous reports pointed out that Adam Devine, who portrayed Bumper in the films, won't be joining the cast of "Pitch Perfect 3." A few months back, celebrity news reporter for LA Times Amy Kaufman revealed that the actor still doesn't know if he is going to be on the film. "They haven't fully locked in the story. I don't even know if I'm gonna be in it or not. They did not have me sign on," Devine told Kaufman.
"Pitch Perfect" 3 is expected to launch in December 22, 2017. However, a few reports suggest that the film could be released on Aug. 4, 2017. Since the studio hasn't confirmed the recent reports surrounding the third installment of the franchise, viewers must treat the recent updates as speculation until proven otherwise.
