'Persona 5' release date rumors: Atlus confirms Sept. 15 release in Japan; Western game launch to follow this year

A special announcement was made by Atlus that confirms the release date of the much-awaited game title "Persona 5." It was done through a special livestream event that was held on May 5, and while many fans had previously counted on rumors regarding the latest "Persona 5," Atlus itself made the formal confirmation of the game's arrival plus a full trailer that shows everything that the player can expect in the game.

According to a report from IGN, Atlus announced that "Persona 5" will be first released in Japan on Sept. 15 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 consoles. However, there is still no news regarding the anticipated release of the video game in places outside Japan, although fans can expect that the Western countries such as the United States will have the new game sometime in 2016.

Aside from the video game, Atlus also revealed a special Collector's Edition for the 20<sup>th anniversary of the "Persona" video game series. The special edition package will be made available in Japan that includes an art book, a soundtrack with all original theme songs from the previous "Persona" installments, and a "series-inspired" DLC content pack, including the old outfits from "Persona 3" and "Persona 4." The Collector's Edition set can be purchased for 13,800 yen or around $128. However, there are no reports regarding the release of the Collector's Edition outside Japan.

Summing up the special May 5 event, Atlus also confirmed that the "Persona 5" anime that they have already revealed in the past will arrive in Japan in September. Also, the fans can expect more details regarding "Persona 5" as Atlus will make an appearance at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 this coming June to showcase their latest game title.

Christian Today reported that "Persona 5" is the first entry in the game franchise to launch in newer PS4 console. Also, there will be a major change in the setting of the game as "Persona 5" will see the characters being hunted down by villainous creatures. This is different from the first four "Persona" video games where the main character players are the ones chasing evil supernatural beings.
