"Persona 5" is yet to make its way to North America and Europe, but Atlus already has a new iteration of the role-playing video game in mind.

The developer is set to announce new titles next year, and "Persona" fans will not leave empty-handed, at least based on what Atlus business director Naoto Hiraoka's statement.

"We're steadily developing other titles behind the scenes, including the Persona series. We plan to announce future titles in the new year, without keeping you waiting too long," the Atlus executive promised.

Kazuyuki Yamai of Team Maniax, the developer behind "Shin Megami Tensei" games, also teased that there is something to look forward to in the series next year.

"The Shin Megami Tensei series will celebrate its next milestone towards future developments next year. I hope to be able to share 'something' with everyone next year," she said as per Persona Central.

It would not be a shock for a follow up to "Persona 5" to be one of the projects of Atlus for next year. After all, the game was released back in September.

Fans surmise that "Persona 6" will be the one that Atlus will make official next year. Others believe that new downloadable content (DLC) for "Persona 5" will be released instead.

This is because Atlus is expected to capitalize on the massive success of the game. After all, "Persona 5" went on to become the bestselling game in the company's history when it released in Japan several months back.

It also would not be shocking if Atlus released "Persona 5" DLCs in addition to making a sequel official. Whatever the studio has in store, it looks like fans will be happy.

For now, the focus is on the international release of "Persona 5." Atlus hopes that the RPG will be as big as in North America and Europe as it was in Japan.

"Persona 5" will be released worldwide April 4, 2017.
