Science fiction crime drama "Person of Interest" only has a month before it airs its final episode, and this season will also be the show's last.

According to the official synopsis for episode 9 titled "Sotto Voce," Reese and Fusco will find themselves in a difficult situation when an unknown criminal mastermind that goes by the alias "The Voice" holds them captive in their own precinct. Also trapped with them are armed gang members along with their latest Person of Interest. Meanwhile, Root will discover something that will shock her.

On another note, rumor has it that Root or Shaw might be killed in the finale of the CBS drama. As seen in the previous episode, Shaw was being manipulated by Samaritan, leading her to murder her friends. Just when she was about to kill Root, Shaw decided that she'd rather end her life than hurt Root. It remains to be seen if one of them will eventually die, but it is very clear that Shaw has deep feelings for Root.

In line with the series' final season after a five-year run, executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Greg Plageman released a press statement to give thanks to everyone who supported them until the show's end which reads:

"We're extremely excited to be able share this final season with the fans. We're eternally grateful to our amazing cast and crew, as well as our partners at the studio and network. Most of all, we want to thank the show's fans — the best fans in the world. This subversive little paranoia-inducing cyberpunk-thriller is for you and would not have been possible without your support. As life has come to imitate Person of Interest, it's been our great privilege to work on show for the past five seasons. We can't wait for you to experience this thrilling and final chapter."

Rumor has it that the reason behind the show's cancellation is its poor ratings performance. As it turns out, no other network would like to air "Points of Interest" because the cost of producing it would be very high while its average number of viewers continues to dip.

How will Reese and Fusco escape from "The Voice?" Will the mysterious criminal mastermind's identity finally be revealed? Find out all the answers in "Person of Interest" season 5 which airs every Monday at 10 p.m. on CBS.
