After a five-year run, CBS sci-fi crime drama "Person of Interest" will premiere its final season next month. Reports say that the show will span 13 episodes, airing two episodes every week before the finale set for June 21.News about the sudden cancellation of the show came as a surprise to fans who have been following the show since its premiere. Showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Greg Plageman gave a statement via IGN last month to thank all the viewers who they owe the show's success to:

"We're extremely excited to be able to share this final season with the fans. We're eternally grateful to our amazing cast and crew, as well as our partners at the studio and network. Most of all, we want to thank the show's fans — the best fans in the world. This subversive little paranoia-inducing cyberpunk-thriller is for you and would not have been possible without your support. As life has come to imitate Person of Interest, it's been our great privilege to work on show for the past five seasons. We can't wait for you to experience this thrilling and final chapter."

As for the premiere episode titled "B. S. O. D.," the plot will take place following the body-dropping finale in season four. In order to save the Machine's source code, Reese and Finch will do everything before it gets totally damaged beyond repair. Meanwhile, Samaritans agents will go after Root as she fights to stay alive. Viewers have seen her survive through several Samaritan agents in the past but since this is the final season, not one character is expected to be unscathed. Following Elias and Dominic's death, Fusco comes face-to-face with tough questions he needs to resolve.

"Person of Interest" season 5 returns to TV screens Tuesday, May 3, 10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. Jim Caviezel reprises his lead role along with co-actors Kevin Chapman, Michael Emerson, Sarah Shahi and Amy Acker. The latest extended teaser can be viewed here.
