Hit science fiction crime drama "Person of Interest" season 5 only has three episodes to go until the show bids goodbye for good, and tensions run high in the story as the team works on a new POI.

Next Tuesday's episode will see the team work on a very high-profile case, as government leader will be involved. According to the official synopsis for episode 11 titled "Synecdoche," the team is given a complicated task as it must reveal a conspiracy which is linked to the president. However, it will not be a walk in the park as the team must keep one step ahead of the Secret Service since the president is its latest POI. Meanwhile, Finch decides to fly solo and try to take down Samaritan on his own.

Last week, the show celebrated its landmark 100th episode, and it was definitely packed with so much drama and action. Root sacrificed her life for Finch, and executive producers Jonathan Nolan recently spoke to TV Insider about how Finch will deal with the character's loss. "We've long wanted to see what happens if Finch finally gets off the sidelines and says, 'F--- it,'" he said. "We see a little bit of the guy that we've met in flashbacks, but haven't engaged with since... The one thing we haven't really challenged or we haven't seen is for his ethos to be challenged to such a degree that it prompts a change in the way he's going to engage with this conflict. To see him get off the sidelines and plow in is something we're very, very excited about."

Back in March, TV Line reported that the series was cancelled, which means season 5 will be its last. The reason behind the cancellation was its poor ratings performance along with high costs needed for filming. Reports say that this is why no other network wanted to pick up the series.
