Will Ethan (Josh Hartnett) and Vanessa (Eva Green) ever find their way back to each other when it seems that Dracula/Dr. Sweet (Christian Camargo) has worked his power of seduction on her? That's what fans are hoping for before "Penny Dreadful" season 3 draws to a close. The two-hour finale of season 3 will feature two episodes.

The first episode titled "Perpetual Night" will start airing at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time, and according to Spoiler TV, it will see Dr. Joan Seward (Patti LuPone) trying to help Ethan and Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton) rescue Vanessa from Dracula.

Apparently, the aid will come after Dr. Seward discovers that her secretary, Renfield (Samuel Barnett) has been lending Dracula a hand in his dark plan to seduce Vanessa. A confrontation between Ethan (who happens to be a werewolf) and Dracula would be one of the main highlights of the upcoming season finale, seeing as how bad blood has always boiled between vampires and lycanthropes.

Not much has been shared about the other half of the season finale, except that it would air at 10:00 p.m. ET and would be titled "The Blessed Dark." Nevertheless, Parent Herald surmised that when Ethan goes to London to seek Dr. Frankenstein's (Rory Kinnear) help against Dracula, he would discover that his old flame Brona/Lily (Billie Piper) has been brought back to life.

Ethan might convince Dr. Frankenstein to let Lily go. It remains to be seen whether Ethan would ask Lily for help in rescuing Vanessa from Dracula and his minions or not.

Meanwhile, Showtime is keeping mum as regards the fate of "Penny Dreadful," so fans are left wondering if the series has been renewed or canceled for season 4. Carter Matt noted that it was around this time last year when Showtime announced the show's renewal for season three.

If that timeline proves to be a solid basis, then fans could expect an announcement anytime soon. Nevertheless, Movie News Guide reported that the network's apprehension about giving the show another season might have been triggered by the low ratings and viewership that it has been getting.

"Penny Dreadful" season 3's two-hour finale will air on Sunday, June 19, 9:00 p.m. ET on Showtime.
