'Outlander' season 3 spoilers, plot news: New behind-the-scenes teaser released; showrunner talks season 3 storyline
"Outlander" still has a long way to go before the third season premieres, but a new teaser featuring lead actor Sam Heughan has already been released.

In the short clip from E! News, Heughan shared a behind-the-scenes look at the production for season 3. He also gave viewers a first look at Jamie (Heughan) as he wields a sword during the intense Battle of Culloden. At some point in the video, the whole production team appears behind Heughan as they welcome the audience to the new season.
Season 2 left off with a lot of major changes for the characters, particularly for Jamie and Claire (Caitriona Balfe). The star-crossed lovers parted ways when Claire returned to her own time period.Through the help of her husband Frank (Tobias Menzies), Claire raised her daughter with Jamie, Brianna (Sophie Skelton) up until Frank died.
Showrunner Ronald D. Moore recently attended the Creative Arts Emmys and while on the red carpet, he shared interesting details on what fans should expect in the upcoming installment. "It's very exciting," he told Gold Derby. "The third book's called 'Voyager' and it's as different from the second season as the second was from the first. [Season 3] involves a sea voyage and going to the Caribbean and to Jamaica and it has war elements and more 20th-century stuff and back-and-forth time travel elements. It's a big, new, brand-new season."
Meanwhile, Austrailian actor David Berry is the latest cast addition for season 3. He will portray the character of an all-grown Lord John Grey, who will have a significant role in Jamie's life while he's in prison. According to ScreenCrush, season 3 will span a total of 13 episodes with a storyline which possibly picks up right where season 2 left off.
"Outlander" season 3 is expected to premiere sometime in 2017 on Starz.
