Starz's critically-acclaimed drama "Outlander" will introduce a new time traveler when the show returns for its third season next year.

Australian actor David Berry is the show's latest addition, and he will portray the pivotal role of Lord John Grey. He is a former British soldier who later becomes the governor of Ardsmuir Prison where Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) was incarcerated. The two become friends, but their relationship will take a different turn when a scandal from John's past resurfaces.

Berry is a newcomer to American TV, and "Outlander" will be his biggest acting stint in the country. The actor is popularly known for his role as James Bligh in the hit Australian program "A Place to Call Home." Aside from acting, Berry also tours other countries as a singer performing with the "Scream and Shout" group.

Season 3 will be based on "Voyager," which is the third novel in Diana Gabaldon's best-selling series published in 1993. The story picks up right after Claire (Catriona Balfe) travels through time once again, returning to her life in 1948 as a World War Two nurse. Now that she is pregnant with Jaimie, her sudden reappearance and her relationship with her first husband Frank will be make everything more complicated.

Meanwhile, Jamie is still back in the 18th century dealing with troubles of his own. He suffers from the aftermath of the battle of Culloden and the idea of losing Claire. Separated by years and continents, the star-crossed lovers must find their way back to each other.

Fans may be suffering from "Droughtlander" as they will have to wait until next year to see new episodes of the show. However, Starz CEO Chris Albrecht already confirmed earlier this month that the series "will be around for a long time."

Starz has yet to announce a definitive premiere date for "Outlander," but the series is expected to return sometime in 2017.
