'Outlander' season 2 spoilers and updates: Jamie seeks Claire's help to win the battle, Lord John spin-off to possibly happen?
The upcoming episode of hit time travel series "Outlander" will see a huge battle involving Jamie, and Claire's knowledge will be vital in his quest to win.
According to the official synopsis for this week's episode titled "Prestonpans," Jamie will lead the Jacobite army to a huge battle. Aside from their strenuous preparation for the war, Jamie also relies on Claire's knowledge about history for them to win. Claire is reminded of the cost of wars when she sees the dead men who had to suffer for their victory.
This Battle of Prestonpans might be one of the second season's highlights, and what transpires after the war might lay the groundwork for the last remaining episodes of this season. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, writer-producer Matthew B. Roberts gave a detailed statement on how the episode will play out, which reads:
We're going to take Jamie and his troops and integrate them within the bigger Highland army. Prince Charlie returns and the first half is all these people trying to jockey for a position with him. Jamie is the one person who doesn't have to since he already has the Prince's ear. And through knowledge of Claire, he knows they're going to win this battle, so he's a little more relaxed than you would normally see a person going into a battle. So what we need to show in "Prestonpans" is how they win this battle. We stay true to the actual battle; it was about eight minutes long total and we pretty much almost show it in real time.
On another note, Roberts also gave his take on a possible spinoff due to the show's success.There are talks of a possible Lord John spin-off since he played a huge part in Diana Gabaldon's books. The producer admitted that they sometimes joke about possible spinoffs, but it's too early to tell. "We haven't really discussed it seriously if we could do that, but that would be something for Starz to order before we could start talking about it seriously," he explained.
