'Outlander' season 2 episode 12 spoilers news: Jaime protects the Jacobite army from danger, Claire helps Alex from a dangerous disease

Last Saturday's "Outlander" saw the Duke of Sandringham (Simon Callow) pay the ultimate price for Claire's (Caitriona Balfe) attack when Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix) beheaded him, and the next episode will be highlighting Jamie's plan to keep the Jacobite army away from danger.

To recap, the past episode featured Claire, Jamie and their group cornered by Redcoats. Claire went on to pretend as an English hostage, so the Highlanders can pass through safely. After being taken to "safety," Claire meets someone who caused her pain in the past: the Duke of Sandringham along with his goddaughter Mary Hawkins. She also saw Sandringham's valet Danton, and she remembered clearly that it was him who raped Mary.

In an effort to win back the English king's trust, Sandringham plotted to lure "Red Jamie" to rescue Claire, turning both of them over to the Redcoats. Unfortunately for Sandringham, Jamie and Murtagh were warned of the trap, and they were able to sneak into the castle. Mary finally got her revenge after killing Danton, and Murtagh fulfilled his promise to Claire and Mary to get even with everyone responsible for their attack in Paris.

To give fans a preview of what's in store for the penultimate episode, the official synopsis for "The Hail Mary" reads:

"As Jamie puts all of his efforts into turning the Jacobite army away from the impending slaughter at Culloden Moor, Claire attempts to comfort the sick Alex Randall. She is stunned when Alex reveals an outrageous plan to save the mother of his child."

As noted by spoiler reports, Jaime and Claire will return to the Jacobite army, but they have lost their fire in fighting after being in retreat for the past five months. They are now camped at Inverness, and they are close to giving up. However, the thought of conceding is not even on Jamie's mind. Claire also chances upon Mary in Inverness, who happens to be with Alex Randall. Jamie's uncle Colum will make an appearance at the Jacobite's headquarters, and he will ask Claire a special favor.
