'Orange Is the New Black' season 5 release date, plot spoilers: Laura Prepon takes on an extra role

Laura Prepon will be pulling double duty on "Orange is the New Black" season 5. Apart from bringing back her character Alex to the small screen, she will also direct an episode this season.
In a behind-the-scenes photo shared by the actress and on the official Instagram page of the Netflix hit, it was revealed that she is taking the director's seat in episode 10 of "Orange Is the New Black" season 5.
The image featured Prepon with her "Orange Is the New Black" co-star and onscreen lover Taylor Schilling — all smiles as they held a clapperboard with the former's name on the director panel.
In another photo, which featured just Prepon with the clapperboard, she wrote on the caption, "So proud to be directing [Orange is the New Black]!! This cast and crew are incredible and supportive. Can't wait for you guys to see it! Love my family."
Fans responded with enthusiasm and showed excitement to see Prepon's work both on and off the screen in "Orange Is the New Black" season 5.
This appears to be Prepon's directing debut on the beloved series although she has an experience, having helmed a 2011 comedy TV movie, "Neighbors."
Not much is known about what the new season of Netflix's most-watched original series has to offer. The previous season ended with a cliffhanger — Daya (Dascha Polanco) holding two prison guards at gunpoint as the Litchfield Penitentiary following the death of Poussey (Samira Wiley).
The prison downplayed the tragedy, leading chaos to ensue in the minimum-security women's federal prison. "Orange Is the New Black" season 5 will show how Poussey's death changes everyone there.
Her loss and the way she met her maker will definitely have an effect on everybody. Poussey's closest friends will never be the same while the rest will be brought closer together.
"Orange Is the New Black" season 5 is expected to premiere on Netflix in June.
