OnePlus is definitely making some noise in the tech market these days. The Chinese startup company co-founded by former Oppo vice president Pete Lau, is about to launch its new flagship smartphone called OnePlus 3. There have been rumors circulating all over the Internet suggesting that OnePlus developed a tech watch to compete with other manufacturers that create wearable devices. Unfortunately, the OnePlus smartwatch did not make it out in the market. It was supposed to be rolled out as part of the company's expansion plans to test some waters in some other areas of the tech market.

During a business conference in Hong Kong, Lau, the company's CEO and founder, revealed that the tech watch was supposed to be launched in 2015. However, the company decided not to and concentrated its business entirely on creating smartphones.

Although the smartwatch did not make it to production, according to the CEO, the design was already completed. The company's decision to shelf it was brought about by its plan to manufacture the best smartphones of today. Apparently, the company does not need any more products that could split its focus. As of the moment, OnePlus is committed to bringing the best handsets in the market. It is also hoping that the upcoming OnePlus 3 will live up to the expectations of the fans.

"We had completed the design but we still decided to scrap it," revealed Lau during the Hong Kong conference. "We have to be focused. It was a matter of survival of the fittest, and adding a possibly weak 'me too' product into the otherwise strong OnePlus lineup would expose the company to a cruel market."

Nonetheless, Lau did not reveal the specs and features of the smartwatch, which still remains a mystery up to now. OnePlus fans should not expect any other product from the company as it is pretty certain that it will stick with manufacturing smartphones.
